Happy 3rd Anniversary to us!

We went out and celebrated our anniversary tonight at Eddie V’s in Fort Worth. We have been wanting to try it for a few years, but it’s definitely out of our regular price range. Jayson’s parents and two of my friends, Steve and Carrie, gave us gift cards for Christmas and my birthday! When I…

Great American Beer Festival!

A few months ago I posted about having won the Beer Geek Photography award from BrewDog. I think I was still in shock that my photography not only won something for me, but that it won something so awesome. BrewDog flew Jayson and me to Denver for the weekend, paid a driver to pick us…

The Death of a Friend is Equivalent to the Loss of a Limb.

This has been a heart breaking week. Monday. My dear friend and coworker, Stephen, passed away suddenly in his sleep. We got the call at the antique mall and we are all devastated. He was only 54 years old. My handsome, witty, fancy friend. That guy with the good hair. I adore him so much…

Oktoberfest Brew

A little update, on our brews. Last Wednesday of August Jayson started his Oktoberfest Lager for his friend’s wedding. As usual we got our recipe and ingredients from Chris at BrewHound.    He decided that was going to be a pain, so I went and saw Chris and got a handy dandy Temperature controller to…

#HomebrewWednesday

I was looking up recipes for a watermelon mead (henceforth known as a watermelomel haha). Should have been simple “watermelon + water + honey.” But I really wanted an idea of how many and how big they should be… everything I found was for a single gallon batch and it said “one large watermelon.” Thanks…

BrewDog’s Beer Geek Awards winner!

This summer I entered this photo of Jayson brewing his Sierra Nevada clone from Brewhound, in BrewDog’s Beer Geek Awards (US). And I won! In September, Jayson and I will be going to the Great American Beer Festival in Denver. We’ll only be there for one day but I’m so excited and honored that my…

A Grape Picking We Will Go.

Last summer Jayson’s boss told him about a vineyard in Cleburne, Travis’ Vineyard, where he and his family go every year to get grape for jam. So Jayson told him about BrewHound and convinced him to try making wine. (Yay helping small businesses!)

Update! 2018

I haven’t been here in a while. My first beer, Oatmeal Milk Stout turned out great, Jayson was a big fan. He made his beer, a Sierra Nevada clone the next week. I made sure to get some photos of him brewing since I got some of my first brew. We haven’t brewed that much…

Let There Be Beer!

We procrastinated and didn’t  get a mead started in time to have anything ready by Thanksgiving or Christmas (either for gifts or just to share) so I suggested we make a couple of beers. Jayson has made a few before, that’s what got him into this hobby 6 or 7 years ago, but I have…

My Meads are ready!

About a month ago I did my last transfer.   Jayson and I are a good pair, he likes dry mead/wine, I require sweet. So when we brew there’s a wide range of options…and usually if one doesn’t turn out right for me, he’ll like it. lol That rambling was just to say, I back…
