2018 Beervent Calendar

Everyone I knew seemed to be ordering a beer advent calendar, so I decided to make our own! As fun as it was, I’m almost glad it’s over. We were washing lots of glassware!

Here’s what our December looked like!

Stay At Home Beer Tasting

Jayson suggested we try a stay at home version. We will cook, which again with our wonky schedule we don’t do a lot of real cooking for dinner, and get a couple of Build your own 6 packs.

Great American Beer Festival!

A few months ago I posted about having won the Beer Geek Photography award from BrewDog. I think I was still in shock that my photography not only won something for me, but that it won something so awesome. BrewDog flew Jayson and me to Denver for the weekend, paid a driver to pick us…

The Death of a Friend is Equivalent to the Loss of a Limb.

This has been a heart breaking week. Monday. My dear friend and coworker, Stephen, passed away suddenly in his sleep. We got the call at the antique mall and we are all devastated. He was only 54 years old. My handsome, witty, fancy friend. That guy with the good hair. I adore him so much…

BrewDog’s Beer Geek Awards winner!

This summer I entered this photo of Jayson brewing his Sierra Nevada clone from Brewhound, in BrewDog’s Beer Geek Awards (US). And I won! In September, Jayson and I will be going to the Great American Beer Festival in Denver. We’ll only be there for one day but I’m so excited and honored that my…

Update! 2018

I haven’t been here in a while. My first beer, Oatmeal Milk Stout turned out great, Jayson was a big fan. He made his beer, a Sierra Nevada clone the next week. I made sure to get some photos of him brewing since I got some of my first brew. We haven’t brewed that much…

Let There Be Beer!

We procrastinated and didn’t  get a mead started in time to have anything ready by Thanksgiving or Christmas (either for gifts or just to share) so I suggested we make a couple of beers. Jayson has made a few before, that’s what got him into this hobby 6 or 7 years ago, but I have…

Five Year Plan.

Okay maybe not actually 5 years, but I had an idea tonight. Jayson and I went out with the intentions of going to Rahr for their St. Patrick’s Day Mid Week Tasting. It’s pretty fun and reasonably priced! For $10 (unless they’ve changed it) you get a one of a kind pint glass themed for…

MY first mead!

Our 5 gallon bucket of honey got here on Tuesday, so yesterday we made mead! We went to HEB and got two 5 gallon jugs of water, the kind that you can exchange for full jugs. That way we save a little money and we aren’t wasting a ton of 1 gal plastic bottles. I…

Bottling

All of our meads have finished. Two 5 gallons of regular mead (one with a little bit of orange) were ready around the beginning of the year, we took one bottle to a party with some friends. We may or may not have finished it that night 😉 ************************************************************************* We bottled & labeled our melomels…
